Saiku A. Branch, Creative Director of 4 Little Girl Dance Films and Co-Director of "The Flight of Angels" is the son of the late John Watusi Branch, founder of the legendary Afrikan Poetry Theatre. At the theatre, Saiku was not only exposed to Pan Afrikan arts and culture but, to arts leadership, mentoring and administration, in the position of Program Director. After the passing of his father, Saiku was named Executive Director.
His love for music, art & theatre lead to an extensive 17 year Award winning career in the field of entertainment. His roles include Film & TV production assistant, lighting & sound,Executive producing, assistant casting director, music coordinator & score composer, field producer, segment director, A&R director, stage engineer, recording engineer, actor, song writer/producer and more. These positions were held at some of the most prominent companies in the industry including Def Jam Island Records, Universal Music Group, Top Dawg Ent./Murder Inc. Records,Death Row East Records, Ruff Ryders Records,BET Networks,A&E channel, The Gospel Music Channel, PBS,DEJ Films, HBO, Foxsearchlight, and 40 Acres & A Mule.
Saiku has appeared in over 40 movies/commercials and music videos and his music on both movie soundtracks and multi-platinum albums.
Saiku has also involved himself in community work, and has worked as an after school counselor, case worker in homeless shelter, summer youth employment site monitor, field monitor &Summer youth assistant administrative director for The Afrikan Poetry Theatre. Saiku has also worked as Managing Editor for a Queens NY based youth publication QTV (Queens Teen Voices). Saiku Branch is an actor, writer, poet, television / movie music composer, and proud father. He is currently acting, teaching music & film, creating music scores for tv & film and recording artist, executive producing films and web tv series, and directing & producing documentaries.
